Created many screen tests; a series of silent films portraits of celebrities, Warhol Superstars, guests and friends between 1964-1966. All together he filmed over 300 screen shots that consisted of about 4:30 minutes of a person sitting still or moving ever so slightly and showing the experience of the living at Warhol's Factory in New York City. The actors were filmed under spotlight, surrounded by darkened walls and in silent black and white each time, some with extreme shadows covering areas of the screen or the actors face. Each screen shot was filmed very closely to the face, normally paying attention to the eyes and upper head, the eyes stand out this way and it can make the overall impression look more emotional. Once filmed on his 16mm Bolex camera, 100 foot rolls of film at 24 frames per second, it was then screened in slow motion. 

Many of the Screen Tests were arranged in different compilations such as 13 Most Beautiful Women, 13 Most Beautiful Boys, and 50 Fantastics and 50 Personalities. These have been projected onto walls that play during Warhol's exhibitions. Along with his other silent films; eat, kiss, blowjob and sleep.

How to create a screen test:

STEP 1: Stage your Film Set

• Prepare your camera and/or webcam
• Set up a solid white or black background
• Darken your filming environment, with the exception of a light source shining directly on you
• Sit in a chair facing the camera

STEP 2: Record your Screen Test

• Start recording
• Look directly into the camera lens 
• Remain as motionless as possible
