Acid Burns

In this article a woman in her late 30's was caught in a horrible incident with the father of her children. She works at a salon in a reasonably poor area in Africa, she uses her smiles to get the attention of clients so that they buy her things. Her boyfriend and father to her children is a jealous and crazy man; he saw her smiling at one of the men who walked into her salon, this enraged him and he then decided to throw battery acid down her face and her side. He wasn't expecting it but managed to turn away just in time to avoid getting acid direction her face, she now is mostly bold and has extreme scar tissue that effects her day to day. She doesn't feel computable going outside, and only will if she is with someone fro her family and it is dark.

This horrible story has made me think about my own made up story based around the making of my prosthetic piece. I have chosen to do an acid burn scar, but I am finding it difficult to get the mood to look realistic. The skin is very stretchy ad when damaged like this it gives off the effect of the skin stretching and melting. I have taken inspiration from this woman's tragic story to help with the design process to my own wound.
