Characterisation
Characterisation is the concept of creating characters for a narrative. It is a literary element and may be employed in dramatic works of art or everyday conversation. Characters may be presented by means of description, through their actions, speech, thoughts and interactions with other characters.Characterisation can be shown in the way a person acts, looks, walks and speaks etc. When thinking of creating a character, the personality will play a huge part; each area of a persons personality can be shown in the way they deal with everyday tasks or in the way someone is acting or how they look. Certain characteristics are more prominent than others, for example, someone way have a twitch or bite their nails, and when creating a character for film, these certain characteristics may be aggregated. These are all qualities of indirect characterisation; reveals of the characters personality in subtle way. Direct characterisation describes the character revealing their personality by what is said in the sentence.
