Match cut:

A match cut is a shot that fades into another shot with a similar image, e.g. in the remake of psycho the woman in the shower scene shows the water and blood running down the drain in a spiral motion, the picture then fades to the woman, dead, hanging out of the bath. The image is focused on her eye that is also spinning in a spiral motion.
