My Hybrid - The Cassowary
This is a youtube video showing the basics to making a beak for a human, I will expand in this and make the near fit the requirements for my bird. https://youtu.be/mKBW3EEtwHI
Sophie Le Lievre
Was a student studying at London College of Art, hoping to become involved with making costumes. After getting involved with the technical arts she found her love of creating, she says with help from her tutors she was able to find her passion in life and create some amazing pieces of artistry makeup including this image below.
The bird beak
This prosthetic piece has inspired me to think about how to create my own interpretation of a Cassowary beak. I understand that I might not be able to create something very big as the timescale may be an issue, but I will use my skills to practice how to create a bird beak such as thins or one closer to the appearance of a Cassowary.
Other inspiring images I have found:
- As my bird, the Cassowary has a large head piece, a large and extended beak and large eyes I want to experiment with different sized pieces of silicone to get a close face shape on my human design.
- I understand this is a hybrid animal but I want the character to retain some humanlike features or personality traits; the first image shows enlarged cheek bones and forehead, I like this idea and want to create two large pieces to bring out the sides of the face and enlarge the cheeks bones, this will be to accentuate the look of a feathered face and bring out the shape of the eyes like cat eyes
This is a profile shot of the Cassowary bird I have taken the inspiration of
from for my Hybrid character; I will use my skills to discover a way I can recreate the head piece and lengthen the beak. This is not an overly feathery bird so most I can do with colouration and makeup, but I want to use some feathers to make the design look more slightly more realistic.
