Using premiere for making a video - notes

Equipment 

  • Camera - still cameras with video capability e.g. canon 550d - bring spare batteries
  • Movie cameras - 108p/i/4k
  • camera on iPhone 4k 
Storage 

  • memory cards - Sandisk class 10 - ultra HD - up to 32GB www.memorybites.co.uk
  • Disc drive 
  • Hard rive for mac - SSD or drives - for video and imagery and all documents - min 500GB but want 1TB - novatech.co.uk - curry.co.uk
Video file storage 

  • video files will be stored o an sd card until transferred to computer on PROJECT FILE
When using premiere:

  • New project
  • save in folder and desktop 
  • HDV high definition video 
  • Put video clips into a folder to access them on premiere 
  • Bin - where I store files 
  • Source monitor - move clip from bin to source by double clicking 
  • Timeline - where I contrast the video 
  • Surround in blue - active (using now)
  • I - to start video 
  • o - to finish the video 
  • NDLE non destructive linear editing 
  • Drag clip to timeline once i and o
  • finish product plays above 
  • can drag only video or audio onto timeline





  • In timeline - for a fade in and fade out choose settings then can edit speed of fade in using pen tool  
  • To save - file, save in desktop project file (or on hard drive) 
  • The video folder and project folder needs to be together  the taking work elsewhere on a hard drive
