Beards and Moustaches
When applying facial hair to a model it is important to look at real beards to ensure the most realistic finish possible, I should think about:
- Colouration: most longer beards have slight orange and blonde colours in, this can be due to smoking and the colour of hair that is in the models genes
- The length: the length of a persons beard with depend on their age, personality traits, life style, living quality and time period, e.g. in the 1800's mens beards where longer and neat, in cave man times beards where erratic and very long due to living quality, nowadays beards are neat and the length of beards has become longer due to fashion and beauty standards
- The type of hair: When thinking of the charter I want to make, the hair must fit the model and their personality in the film; some shorter hair can be applied using stopple glue and a bush, longer beards will need to be pre-made and fitted on the model in makeup, this would need to be applied with stopple glue
- Some beards may be natural and grown by the model themselves, these can then be shaped and style accordingly, this you;d be one way of making sure the hair looks natural
